I've managed to reproduce the reset screen 3 times so far - without really coming up with a rule as to when it happens. Of course, once I restart, I'm back to square one with the black screen. When I play along and reset my password, at the end of the process it says my password was successfully reset (including something about FireVault), then it requires me to restart the computer to complete. I have tried the tricks above to reset the password or login as a new administrator, but have had no luck.
#How to reset password on macbook pro 2016 mac#
There is no option to say "NO I haven't forgotten". 1 day ago &0183 &32 MacBook Pro (2016 or later) MacBook (2016 or later) MacBook Air (2018 or later) iMac (2016 or later, as well as iMac 5K, 27-inch, late 2015) iMac Pro Mac mini (2018 or later) Mac Pro (2019). Nothing.Įxcept, once in a while, it seems to start correctly, the screen turns on, and then it tells me I have forgotten my password and offers to reset it.

I tried a few times, also closing the lid, plugging to a TV, options key, etc. I hear the "ding" sound, the keyboard lights up, but the screen stays black.Īfter a couple of minutes, I hear the fans growing louder, until after a few minutes, the computer stops. Question: Q: MacBook pro boots to reset password instead of loggin screen why I turned my computer on this morning it took for ever to even show any thing on the screen and when it does it goes straight to a 'reset password' screen.
